What we collect, why, and what we never do

Last updated: 23 August 2026

Wisdom Capsules is a free reading portal. This policy describes exactly what the site stores and why. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Reading the capsules requires no account

You can read every capsule without signing in, and we do not ask who you are. We run no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking or profiling of any kind. There is no advertising cookie on this site.

What we collect if you take the Challenge

The Wisdom Capsules Challenge requires a sign-in so that your attempts and certificate belong to you. You may sign in with a one-time email link or with Google. If you sign in with a one-time email link we store only the email address you provide. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us three things: your email address, your display name, and a Google account identifier.

From then on we store, in a database on our own server:

  • your email address, display name, and the name you choose to appear on a certificate
  • your attempts: which questions were shown, the options you selected, your score, hints used, and start and finish times
  • your certificate record, if you earn one
  • sign-in sessions, so you stay signed in between visits

We do not store a password. When you choose the email link method we send a short-lived one-time link; no password is created. When you choose Google we do not receive or store your Google password, and we do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, calendar, or any other Google service.

We take no payment for the Challenge and hold no card or bank details.

Security logs

The server records security events such as a successful sign-in, a failed sign-in, or a request that hit a rate limit. Where these events reference a network address, the address is stored as a one-way hash, never in readable form. We do not keep general web-traffic logs tied to identifiable people.

Cookies

We set two cookies, and only after you sign in: one that keeps you signed in, and one that protects your account against cross-site request forgery. The sign-in cookie cannot be read by JavaScript and is sent only over HTTPS. Your light or dark theme preference is kept in your own browser and never reaches us. That is the complete list.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information, and there is no advertising network or analytics vendor involved. The only external party involved during sign-in is Google, and only if you choose Google sign-in — because Google is confirming who you are. If you sign in with an email link, the link is delivered by the transactional email processor named on the host's deployment record; that processor sees the recipient address and a one-time link but receives no other account information.

Where it is kept

Your information is stored on a private server. Backups are encrypted before they leave that server and are held with an off-site storage provider in encrypted form; the key that opens them is not stored on the server or with that provider.

How long we keep it

Your account, your scores, and your certificate are kept while your account exists, so that a certificate you have shared continues to verify. The detailed question-by-question record of an individual attempt is kept only for a limited period after that attempt, so we can show you your review, and is then removed while your score is retained.

Your choices

Write to support@wisdomcapsules.com and you may ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and its data. Deleting your account also invalidates any certificate you have been issued, since a certificate is a statement about an account.

You can sign out at any time from the account menu, which ends that session on the server rather than only in your browser.

Children

The capsules are written to be suitable for any reader. The Challenge is not directed at children under 13, and we ask that they do not create an account. If you believe a child has signed in, write to us and we will remove the account.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects what we collect or who receives it, we will say so plainly rather than quietly revising the text.
